The Anatomy of the Invisible

The galerie sas is presenting one of its longest-running exhibitions. The works by Carlito Dalceggio have been up since early November, a testament of Dalceggio’s intense Å“uvre.

Belgo Rep2 - Dalceggio

In his exhibition The Anatomy of the Invisible he shows paintings and drawings from his series Splendors of Existence, which was created in India, New York and Montreal. Daleggio’s paintings are vast, richly coloured, dynamic, loose, layered, gestural. Repeated many times across the canvases is a vaguely female form, sometimes flying, sometimes slouching, always moving. There is no discernible composition, the motifs interweave and repeat, creating a restless pattern of movement. Stenciled onto the gallery’s walls, and occasionally appearing on the paintings, are pseudo-political slogans such as “Freedom Warriors do not raise flags, Freedom warriors raise themselves”, which lends both the artist and his Å“uvre a jazzy underground vibe. The show ends tomorrow, but I just found out that this series of works will be on show at Montreal’s W Hotel during the Nuit Blanche festivities on March 1, 2008, so you still have a chance to see this exhibit.
