I just dropped by the Room and Board Gallery to see what’s on show and was told the sad news: Room and Board Gallery are closing down at the end of the month! The exhibition of paintings titled Or Best Offer by John Player is going to be the last show in this small but energetic exhibition space.

The gallerists picked a talented artist for their last hurray. John Player’s large-format paintings tell enigmatic stories of urban life. His sketchy brush strokes are quick but precise, and I love his well controlled colour palette.
If you’re free this Friday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, swing by the last Room and Board vernissage. As of May 2008 the space will be divided up into artists’ studios.
