You have another week to stop by Circa and check out the exhibit Petit précis de recomposition by Éric Desmarais. I always enjoy interactive art tremendously, so Desmarais’ piece Pièces à conviction was right up my alley. This work consists of a beautiful old chest with 25 drawers of various sizes. You can hear an array of faint sounds emanating from the drawers and I was just itching to pull a few of them open to check what was inside – imagine my delight when I realized that this is exactly what visitors to the gallery are encouraged to do! While offering great play value, this piece elegantly communicates the fragmentation and dislocation of perception and association through the use of sound.
The artist’s second work on display, an installation titled Petit précis de recomposition, deals with a similar concept, though here the journey of discovery excludes direct audience participation (ie: no touching!).
While you’re there, don’t forget to take a peek at the small exhibition room which shows a wonderfully ethereal installation piece by Serge Marchetta titled Oser le temps.
