Make sure you stop by Galerie Joyce Yahouda to see the exhibit Considérations partielles by Sarah Bertrand-Hamel. The artist displays four huge drawings made up of a series of small individual panels of paper, all stitched together with a tidy zig-zag thread. She carefully draws everyday interior scenes in subtle hues, her attention to detail is nearly photographic. But as though reality was refracted on a multitude of slightly misaligned mirrors, none of the individual panels quite match up and your eye dances across the picture plane, zooming in an out, jumping across the edges of the paper. Each slice of space becomes equally important as the next, irrespective of its content. Bertrand-Hamel’s interpretation of details is both tactile and poetic.
