Running until the end of this week at the Visual Voice Art Gallery is the exhibition People and Quiet Spaces by photographer Nik Mirus.

Mirus’ images posses a unique atmosphere. There’s something cinematic about his work – the way he uses light, the way he stages his shots, create a feel that is both authentic and mythical. You sense that something dramatic is about to happen, leaving you to imagine the next frame of the movie. The large format of the prints do a lot to underline the dramatic impact of his work; the nearly technicolour hues and saturated blacks are intense.
