Just started at Les Territoires is the exhibition Here + There by Korean artist HyeKyong Yun.

The approach of Yun’s series of portraits is counter-intuitive: she calls it “self portraiture by photographing others”. Her subjects are young, Asian males in their early twenties, caught somewhere between being boys and men. Using an unsentimental, documentary aesthetic, Yun captures her models as they languish in various urban settings, gaze into the distance, or vainly try to hide in plain sight. Yun attempts to find herself in the anguish of others, a feat requiring a solid dose of empathy from the artist. She successfully communicates the malaise of her subjects and herself, eliciting feelings of empathy from the viewers.
