Laroche/Joncas are very happy to present À Vol d’Ours , an exhibition of new paintings by Dan Brault. This is the artist’s second solo show with the gallery.

Dan Brault’s painting practice is an amalgam of signs, codes, styles and aesthetics. His bold and highly charged compositions present themselves as accumulations of colored sensations that reflects both the artist’s enthusiastic nature and his baroque sensibility. The exploration of space, the metaphysical, the non tangible, candor, optimism, delight, merriment, the troubling and the loss of direction are all sensations that emanate from these crude and garish dreamscape-like works. A visual clutter in which we can perceive art historical benchmarks such as still lifes, geometric, hardedge abstraction, photographic processes and street art. A form of suspended universe results in the drifting meanders of painting.
