As part of the Print Media Month Galerie Luz presents prints by Montreal artists Béatrice Sokoloff and Roch Landry in an exhibition titled États de nature / avant les mots.

Béatrice Sokoloff presents more prints from her series Le corps de l’arbre, which was presented last autumn at the Visual Voice Gallery (see here for details about the show). Most of Sokoloff’s small prints are dark and moody, vibrating with dense, organic textures. There are a few prints in her series where she uses light, gestural strokes, creating dynamic patterns reminiscent of spider-webs, leaf structures, or gnarly twigs. It’s as thought the trees themselves picked up a drypoint needle.
