North Wind

The Regroupement pour la promotion de l’art imprimé Arprim launched its Print Media Month with the exhibition of Libby Hague‘s installation Vent du nord.

Arprim-LHague

Aprim is promoting innovative practices of the print medium, and Hague’s work is a case in point. If your idea of ‘print’ is along the lines of delicate aquatints in tidy frames, this exhibition will open your eyes. Hague did indeed print hundreds of long, fragile corn leaves, but she then assembled them into three rows of corn stalks, suspended from the ceiling with yellow ribbons. Add to this a golden yellow light shining through the installation, a cluster of ominous paper clouds wedged into the corner of the ceiling, and a fan generating a gentle breeze, and suddenly you feel yourself transported to somewhere in the prairies. There is something theatrical about this art piece, transforming the gallery visitor into an actor in Hague’s play about an autumn day in the corn-fields.
