Virtually Open on Monday: Maison Kasini

Maison Kasini Panorama

This Monday’s virtual tour takes us to Maison Kasini, an interesting hybrid between art gallery and art store. Aiming to make art accessible to all, the exhibition space is filled with small, affordable artworks, chap books, art postcards and prints, objets’d’art, and artist’s magazines which will tempt even the most casual browser. But you’ll also find large-format works of local and US artists, such as the paintings of Kirsten McCrea and Yvon Goulet.

I’m a big fan of the idea of making art accessible and getting people over the ‘fear factor’ of entering an art gallery. Maison Kasini feels a lot like a store, a familiar, unpretentious environment where you don’t feel obliged to whisper. If you’re new ‘gallery crawling’, this is a great place to start.
