The Belgo is the home of over two dozen commercial and non-profit galleries, but there is also another type of gallery that’s on the rise: the artist-run gallery. Some artists open their doors to the public and dedicate some of their creative space to exhibit their own work. One of the newest artist-run galleries is Lobtha, which is co-managed by artists Jesse Collette and Valérie Polychuck. It’s a sizeable space which currently presents Collette’s series Recollection. His mixed media paintings and assembled sculptures are worth checking out. And make sure you ask him to give you the tour, there’s a story with every artwork.
