Summer Hues

Galerie Luz has filled its walls with summer colours. The current group show features works by Marie-Josée Gagnon, Zari Kazandjian, Marc David Sparckl, Harry Vandelman, Thérèse Faysse, and Béatrice Sokoloff.

Zari Kazandjian

The majority of the paintings are pleasantly decorative abstracts, some in the style of colour field painting, some a re-interpretation of Rothko or Leduc. My favourites of the show are the series of soft-edged abstracts in various hues of red by Harry Vandleman, and the two large canvases by Marie-Josée Gagnon with their strata of complex colours which evoke bands of brooding clouds. Making a second appearance in as many months is Béatrice Sokoloff, who presents her earlier work of colourful encaustics inspired by the Amazonian jungle.

  1. Inqiuring about a painting that I own… It has on the back a date, Feb 01, Harry Vandelman is the name and it also has a number on it. The number is 5950198, I aquired this painting a few years ago and I am trying to find out some information on it. It is a beautiful painting and I would like to know more. I unfortunately cannot attend any art shows in Montreal as I live in Calgary Alberta and do not have the time nor the money to travel. If anyone could help me with this I would very much appreciate it.
