Get there quick! If you drop by Galerie B-312 between January 28 and February 4, 2012 you can pick up an entire art exhibition, yours to keep for free – but only while supplies last. And from what I’ve seen last Saturday, they won’t last long.
Jusqu’à Épuisement des Stocks/While Supplies Last is an international collective of 18 artists who are are pushing the concept of an art exhibition to its limits. They decided to contain their entire show in the confines of a USB key. Inside the completely empty Galerie B-312 stands a lonely white table with a heap of USB keys and the instruction “Please take one.” What you do from then on is up to you.
I won’t spoil the surprize for you and describe the artworks on the key in detail – the act of discovery is half of the fun. But I’ll say this much: the works are simple, conceptual, funny, subversive, and smart. All artworks are anonymous, and you are free to share the works, erase, print, or modify them in any way you like.
Not only is While Supplies Last questioning what an art exhibition is, but also the act of creating and presenting art, the value of art, and the the role of the art collector.
There were only a few dozen USB keys left Saturday afternoon, so if you don’t want to miss out, I suggest you visit B-312 now.
