Galerie sas are currently showing the works of Mateo M in a show titled Random Movements (*of the soul).

Mateo’s work is strongly influenced by art brut. His dynamic, rough brush-marks and scratches are nearly violent, his palette restricted to two or three bold colours. His graphic compositions are occasionally softened by a sticky-looking monoprint texture, which lends an organic quality to his work. Most striking is the nearly manic repetition of a sketchy face, appearing over and over, often even on the same canvas. I can practically smell the testosterone.
